2017 was quite a year! In communities across the 161 Texas counties we serve, 677 life-changing wishes were granted. We recognize that this was possible only through the contributions and passion of our volunteers, donors and partners in the medical community. Please accept my gratitude as well as my sincere admiration. Your dedication to Make-A-Wish® is awe-inspiring.
We celebrated a momentous milestone this year with the granting of our chapter’s 10,000th wish! Madi is 18 and, for the past five years, has battled a brain tumor, frequent migraines and organ failure. This means extended hospital stays and almost constant pain. Her yearning to record an original song kept her inspired and focused, while she worked alongside the extremely talented producers in the state-of-the-art studios at Cook Children’s Medical Center. Words of encouragement poured in throughout her wish journey and now #MadiFans can see Madi and download her original song “Joy” at here
As you may be aware, independent, soon to be published medical research is beginning to reveal new levels of wish impact...even beyond what you may have imagined. One study quantifies the physiological and financial impact of a wish and directly links wishes to improved health outcomes.
You also may have noticed our mission statement has been refined and our brand has an updated look and feel to reflect our progress. Just one more indication of these exciting times.
It is truly invigorating to be a part of the force moving Make-A-Wish forward! I’d like to thank you, again, for all you do.
