Zander’s Wish to be a ZOOKEEPER

7 year-old, Zander, has wished to be a Zookeeper and we need YOUR help! On May 12th Zander was declared an Honorary Zookeeper. Minutes after, he received breaking news that an alligator has been spotted on the loose in Dallas.

Zander’s task is to track down the alligator and safely transport it to its new home at the Dallas Zoo.

Help Zander spot the alligator’s tracks throughout the metroplex (and beyond) which can be done one of two ways:

•Download & print alligator tracks from the Make-A-Wish website, cut out the tracks, place them around your home, work or a public landmark, take a picture and upload to our Make-A-Wish North Texas facebook page
Print your Gator Tracks!

•Download the GoldRun App, snap a picture with your phone, alligator tracks are instantly added to the pic, upload to the Make-A-Wish North Texas facebook page and notify Zander of where tracks were spotted

Zander’s Hunt for the alligator begins!

At 8:30am Zander will be called to the Make-A-Wish office where he will find a set of alligator tracks and a note from President George W. Bush. The note asks Zander to check out some suspicious tracks at the presidential library construction site. Upon reaching the site, Zander will investigate the tracks which will lead to a furry animal (stuffed). Zander will have to “rescue” the animal and follow the clue left by the alligator to the next scavenger hunt location.

Visit the sign station and make signs to greet Zander upon his arrival
Interact with animals from the Dallas Zoo

Make-A-Wish North Texas is celebrating 30 years of granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions and will unveil a public service announcement (PSA) that Texas Rangers’ infielder Ian Kinsler participated in this off-season before the Texas Rangers’ game on Monday, May 14th.

Make-A-Wish North Texas President & CEO, Scotty Landry, will present Ian Kinsler with an award for his involvement in the PSA which is a reminder of the renewed hope that heroes; like Kinsler, give to wish children everyday. The 30, 60 and 90 second spots star Ian alongside past wish recipient Sam, age 8, who received his wish to go to a Space Shuttle launch in May of 2010 and has since helped the Foundation with a number of similar promotional projects.

Make-A-Wish families and volunteers compliments of the Texas Rangers will enjoy a night at the ballpark as a North Texas Wish Child throws the evening’s first pitch. 

Traditionally, the live and silent auctions generate a large portion of the funds raised at Wish Night and this year promises to be no exception! With an outstanding selection of items the Wish Night auction is expected to raise more than $460,000 to grant wishes to children in North Texas!

Helzberg Diamonds, Inc., this year’s title sponsor, will have several beautiful pieces of jewelry on display with a retail value of more than $43,000. Other auction items include a 4 day 3 night trip to St. Thomas donated by Cheap Caribbean as well as other exciting travel destinations such as Argentina, Aruba, Hawaii and more.

Wish Art, created by wish kids is always a big hit at Wish Night. Wish Artist Jordyn of Plano will have several one-of-a-kind pieces of her artwork in the silent auction including her award winning piece titled “Little Red in the Wolf”, a shadow box paper sculpture. Guests will be mesmerized with amazing new items from the auction and leave satisfied that they have helped to make very special children’s wishes come true.

Guests will arrive at 6:00pm for “A Night of Enchanted Wishes” as the evening begins with silent auction, followed by a multi-course dinner, live auction, special performance from past wish recipients, and the ever so popular midnight snack.

The Terracon Client Appreciation Golf Tournament will take place on June 11, 2012 at Timmarron Country Club in Southlake, Texas.

The 2nd Annual Nodding Donkey Golf Tournament benefitting Make-A-Wish North Texas will be played on Friday, May 18, 2012. The tournament is a 4 man scramble with tee off at 1:30pm at the Golf Club of Dallas. Food and drinks will be provided all day.

Continuing its work to promote the game and improve the lives of children through golf, the Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation is thrilled to announce the inaugural Kids Play FORE Kids fundraising event. The event is scheduled for Friday, August 10, 2012 at Firewheel Golf Park in Garland, Texas with all proceeds benefitting the Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation and Make-A-Wish North Texas.

Kids Play FORE Kids is a golf event for kids only!

The 9-hole scramble event is open to all kids ages 6-18. Kids will be encouraged to ask friends and siblings to join the fun, even if they have never played golf before. Each participant will be asked to set a goal of raising at least $100.00 and will have the opportunity to sign up as an individual or as part of a team of their choice. Activities will include prizes for team names and outfits, special holes, and a post-golf BBQ and auction. Participants will also receive prizes based on the amount of money raised for the event.
