Hanna, a high school freshman who has been playing the French horn for four years now, got the opportunity of a lifetime when her wish to play with musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra came true. With music being such a big part of this teen’s life, meeting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra was a day she’ll never forget.

Founded in 1891, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is consistently hailed as one of the greatest orchestras in the world.

Hanna’s experience included many rare privileges like sitting on stage with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra horn section during rehearsal; playing along-side Chicago Symphony Orchestra Associate Principal horn Dan Gingrich to an arrangment of music from the Harry Potter movies and even attending a sold-out performance by this infamous group of musicians.

Principal horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since February 1966, Dale Clevenger, states that at the same age as Hanna, he too wanted to play in this particular Orchestra and the importance of giving back.

“When I was fifteen this is what I wanted to do, and in this Orchestra,” explains Clevenger. “Anything we can do to uplift her spirits during this rough time in her life, we will do it. Gladly!”

Hanna’s wish marks the first time Make-A-Wish^® has partnered with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to grant a wish making this day extra special for all parties involved.
