Development Officer - Amarillo

We need the right person to lead the fundraising charge in the Amarillo area – someone who is action-oriented, willing to seize opportunities, and who can push toward long-term goals with a positive focus.

The Development Officer will oversee four key areas:
• Partner with the Regional Council members to manage member retention, drive member recruitment, and provide support to ensure the Council is setting and meeting goals.
• Lead and oversee the identification, development, and maintenance of contact with donor prospects while managing a personal portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation prospects.
• Cultivating and securing event sponsorships, ticket sales, and auction items for internal special events.
• Work alongside the event logistics team to ensure successful event execution.

Qualifications:
Relevant Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years donor cultivation experience. You must be able to make “the ask” on behalf of the Wish Kids we serve.
Strong strategic thinker who can lead the development program in the Amarillo area.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key volunteers and donors.
Energetic, flexible, and proactive with a roll-up-the-sleeves work attitude.

Digital Marketing Manager
Are you ready to leverage your talents in email marketing, website management, content management, search marketing and digital advertising to help support life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses?

Make-A-Wish North Texas is searching to fill a newly created Digital Marketing Manager (DMM) position. The DMM will work collaboratively with our internal teams to focus on all our various stakeholder audiences [wish families & alum, donors, sponsors, volunteers (board of directors/regional councils, wish granters, wish ambassadors), medical referral sources, etc.]. The DMM will also collaborate with content developers, chapter data services team, and counterparts in chapters around the country, as well as with the Digital Revenue team at Make-A-Wish America.

Our Marketing Communications team is committed to identifying creative and cost-effective ways to drive brand awareness and affinity as well as open doors to revenue expansion.

Responsibilities will include development of our digital marketing communications strategy. Initial focus will be on our email marketing program, allowing for better audience stewardship and maximized revenue opportunities through digital fundraising. We want and need our stakeholders to have a more seamless and compelling brand experience. Promotional efforts should be measured on the ability to drive digital conversions.

Additionally, the DMM will manage our chapter website, SEM/SEO, digital peer to peer fundraising and digital advertising. The DMM will work to create and adapt content and messaging ensuring brand integration through active collaboration with the broader team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications from an accredited college or university and 2+ years’ experience in digital marketing or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Demonstrable experience managing database/email marketing efforts, website development/management, SEO/SEM, digital marketing/advertising campaign management and analytics reporting/optimization.
• Must be comfortable with backend systems as well as front end email campaign management: database management, list segmentation, data hygiene management, creative campaign including automated/drip series development, send frequency management, database growth, legal compliance/best practices, optimized destination user experience.
• Experience writing for SEO/SEM including Adwords management.
• Should be well-versed in the latest techniques and tools necessary to identify/analyze campaign data, financials, and other metrics to make data-driven optimization recommendations.
• Proficiency in WordPress/Sitecore CMS, email platform(s) like Constant Contact, MailChimp, Dotmailer, Luminate plus Adobe Creative Suite.

Internship Program Overview
Make-A-Wish® North Texas offers students an excellent way to gain real world experience in a challenging and fun yet rewarding work environment.
Our chapter works with students year-round who are looking to gain experience in accounting, finance, program services (wish-granting), marketing and communications, graphic design, special events, information technology, data analytics, volunteer management, website management and more.
We request a 10 to 20 hour per week commitment for the duration of two quarters/one semester/10-weeks by potential internship applicants. Internships are also available for course credit (contingent upon university approval).
All internships are non-paid. In addition to departmental duties, all internships include some general office support: filing, answering the phones, supporting front desk, sorting, data entry, envelope stuffing, cross referencing, etc.
Once the organization is in receipt of your submission we will review all applications and contact you if we wish to schedule an interview. If selected as an intern, all positions are contingent upon successful completion of a background check prior to the start of the term. If an issue is detected on the background check, it is possible that the offer will be rescinded.

Internship Position Descriptions


Development Intern

Events - Support the development team in fundraising initiatives and special events. Looking for a creative individual who can write wish stories, help with details of donor recognition program and support all areas within the organization. During this internship, you will also be involved in planning internal events and coordinating external events.

Donor Communications and Stewardship - This Intern will gain first-hand exposure to the operations of a high-performing fundraising team and will be responsible for capturing outstanding stories about our wish families and mission to further engage our donors. The position is strongly focused on writing projects to be used for stewardship of our major donors, creating content for website, corporate collateral, social media and grants.

 

Marketing / Communications Intern

Communications, Marketing, PR & Social Media - Assists the Communications Team with marketing & communications efforts in all regions. Intern tasks include but are not limited to: writing press releases & wish stories, creating promotional materials for brand awareness, specific events and donor appreciation, developing content needed for website and social media, capturing media coverage for all regions, assisting with data tracking and creating newsletter. It is preferred this candidate is fluent with Adobe Photoshop as well as all Microsoft programs.

Graphic Design Intern

Graphic Design - Provide creative design solutions and work hand-in-hand with graphic designer on projects extending across print collateral, video, online, advertising, social media, event-related materials, presentations, email and more. Candidate with video editing skills preferred. Required skills: Must be fluent in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign & Adobe Premier.

Finance Intern

Finance Support - Assist the Finance team with essential accounting and finance functions. Duties will include supporting the implementation of accounting principles, practices and procedures. Specific tasks may include accounts receivable (e.g., preparing cash receipts and deposits), accounts payable activities (e.g., entering vouchers, filing paid invoices), sending out acknowledgements, creating journal entries, assisting with reconciliations, generating financial statements (e.g., data entry and data verification), and other duties as assigned. Also, support strategic cost savings initiatives, track risks & opportunities to plan, and deliver ad hoc financial analysis for customized data and reports in a knowledgeable and flexible manner to aid in business decisions, and work on financial modeling improvements in the planning and forecasting models to enhance process efficiency, support new initiatives and to accurately capture the changing economics or structure of the business.

Information Technology Interns 

Technical Writer - Prepare instruction manuals and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information more easily. Also, develop, gather, and disseminate technical information among customers, designers, and manufacturers.

Information Systems - Assist in needs analysis for projects; in research for solutions for needs. Assist in data analysis and the maintenance and performance tuning of application databases. Create and publish interactive reports.

Medical Outreach Intern

Marketing/Design - Assist the Director of Medical Outreach with medical outreach in all regions. The intern will assist the outreach team with research, referral recognition, data entry and assist with taking referrals. The intern will have opportunities to assist with outreach events, some are on weekends/evenings. The intern will also have the opportunity to work with the program team to support the wish process for our wish families.

Mission Integration Intern

Program Support - Assist the Director of Mission Integration with various tasks associated with wish kid involvement. Projects include reviewing and entering data from wish family surveys, selecting and saving photos from wish experiences, conducting interviews with wish families and writing wish stories. There will be some data entry, organizing around office and other administrative tasks involved as well. The intern will have an opportunity to help support a variety of departments and have some direct interaction with families through phone, email and in person.

Office Operations Intern

Office Support - Assists the Office Manager with daily tasks and projects that affect all North Texas regions. Helps with writing formal procedures, presenting training opportunities, and organizing chapter wide tools. The intern will have the opportunity to assist in property management with office moves, finding cost saving measures, and renewing leases. In addition, there will be opportunities to enhance donor/volunteer relations and work on small projects for other departments.

Program Interns

Wish Granting - Assist the program team by working with the wish families to help plan their wishes, assist in paperwork, answer the phones, and be one of the first initial contacts a wish family has with the Foundation. Plan wish itineraries, work with companies to enhance wishes, and helping all aspects of the wish process to run smoothly.

Analytics/Research/Process - Opportunity to apply business skills within a non-profit organization. Will learn aspects of annual planning, budgeting, wish reconciliation, compliance and database management. Experience with Excel and standard business processes is a plus.

Volunteer Services Intern

Placement & Program Support - Assists the department with daily tasks such as processing wish assignments, posting to website, communications to volunteers, database tracking, mentor matching, etc. Assists the department with operational tasks and database management related to recruitment, on-boarding, retention and recognition of volunteers for all regions. Helps with execution of large group projects and attends community events.
