On May 14, 2012, Make-A-Wish North Texas continued celebrating 30 years of granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions by unveiling a public service announcement (PSA) that Texas Rangers' infielder Ian Kinsler participated in this off-season. The 90 second spot, shown on the jumbotron before the game, stars Ian alongside past wish recipient Sam, age 8, who received his wish to go to a Space Shuttle launch in May of 2010 and has since helped the Foundation with a number of similar promotional projects.
Earlier that afternoon, Make-A-Wish North Texas President & CEO Scotty Landry and Wish Kid Sam presented the infielder with an award thanking him for his involvement in the PSA.
Even after staring in a commercial and meeting a professional baseball star, Sam mentioned to his mom before the game that he was a little nervous to pitch in front of 300 people, something he's never done before.
If he only knew how many people were actually at the ballpark that night. (Ballpark attendance = 38,000+)
